Frequently Asked Questions

Course Questions

Eduspire offers both 100% online courses and face-to-face/hybrid courses.

Online courses can be taken from anywhere and include asynchronous course work and instruction. Some online courses include scheduled mandatory online synchronous video conference sessions. The schedule for mandatory sessions, if any, is provided on the course registration page.

Face-to-face/hybrid courses include mandatory scheduled face-to-face sessions at specific locations (listed on the course registration page). Additional instruction and course work is done online, usually before, between, and after the face-to-face sessions.

The "start date" listed for a course is the date when course work begins, which may be before the first scheduled session, and the "end date" listed for a course is the date when all course work must be completed.

All courses are graded on a letter scale: A, B, C, D, F.

Wilson College courses in conjunction with Eduspire require attendance for all sessions, except for excused absences. If you are absent due to illness or other unforeseen emergencies, Eduspire will work with you toward course completion on a case-by-case basis, subject to Wilson College, Eduspire, and instructor approval. No guarantees can be made that your specific situation will be able to be accommodated.

Course takers may take up to three graduate-level courses each semester. Wilson College policy states that additional courses may be considered and require approval by the Director of Graduate Programs. If you would like to inquire about taking more than three courses in a semester, please contact Karen Fry  (karenfry@eduspire.org) for more information.

Each course has a limited number of guaranteed spots. "Guaranteed registration" secures a spot for anyone who registers by the guaranteed end date and before the course is full and then pays by that guaranteed end date. This allows course takers to hold a spot on the roster by registering early without having to pay immediately.

If any guaranteed spots are not paid for by the guaranteed end date, those spots are made available to others, including the wait list, on a first-come, first-served basis.

It typically takes about a week for Wilson College to process a registration and post an invoice. If you have registered for a course as part of the MET, ITS, or OIE but your invoice from Wilson College is not available on your portal account, please contact Norma Snider (norma.snider@wilson.edu) or Dr. Eric Michael (eric.michael@wilson.edu).

We offer a professional development version of our courses. The PD version provides teachers with similar content, but with a reduced amount of work (30 hours) and is not a graduate-level course. This version allows teachers the opportunity to access cutting-edge professional development without the full workload that a graduate-level course requires.

PLEASE NOTE: If you take a the professional development version, Eduspire is now an ACT 48 provider and you will have the option to have Eduspire submit your Act 48 hours to PDE or receive a Certificate of Completion indicating the number of classroom hours (30 hours) of instruction you have received. Before your course begins, please let us know whether you would like us to submit your hours for you, or if you choose to have your school or school district submit the Act 48 hours to the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Upon completion of the course, send an email to Karen Fry (karenfry@eduspire.org) requesting a Certificate of Completion if applicable.
