Formative Assessment

Effective Formative Assessment and Technology

EDU 935

Eduspire’s courses are offered by Wilson College as graduate-level courses, and most courses can also be taken as part of the Master of Educational Technology (MET) degree program.

This course will focus on effective formative assessment pedagogy, and the integration of appropriate instructional technology tools to facilitate successful formative assessment in the classroom. The knowledge gained from this course will allow each participant to be an instructional leader in his or her school district.

Each week participants will understand, analyze, and apply one element of formative assessment to instructional practices in their classroom. As participants understand sound formative assessment pedagogy, they will simultaneously learn new instructional technology tools to use in the classroom. They will understand how to navigate, create, and deliver instructional activities through these tools.

In order to deepen knowledge of formative assessment, this course will also cover the SAMR model and TPACK framework. Participants will be able to explain each component of SAMR and TPACK, and relate their knowledge of both schemas to daily classroom instruction.

By completing this course, participants will be able to implement effective formative assessment techniques into the classroom. They will be experts in formative assessment, instructional technology tools, the SAMR model, and the TPACK framework. They will be a remarkable resource for any school district that they work in.

The online version of this course will have a mandatory synchronous video conference session each week. Dates and times are indicated on the registration page for each online course.
