This course will focus on effective formative assessment pedagogy, and the integration of appropriate instructional technology tools to facilitate successful formative assessment in the classroom. The knowledge gained from this course will allow each student to be an instructional leader in his or her school district.
Each week participants will understand, analyze, and apply one element of formative assessment to instructional practices in their classroom. As participants understand sound formative assessment pedagogy, they will simultaneously learn new instructional technology tools to use in the classroom. They will understand how to navigate, create, and deliver instructional activities through these tools.
In order to deepen knowledge of formative assessment, this course will also cover the SAMR model and TPACK framework. Participants will be able to explain each component of SAMR and TPACK, and relate their knowledge of both schemas to daily classroom instruction.
By completing this course, participants will be able to implement effective formative assessment techniques into the classroom. They will be experts in formative assessment, instructional technology tools, the SAMR model, and the TPACK framework. They will be a remarkable resource for any school district that they work in.
*Participants in the online version of this course will have several mandatory, synchronous, video conference sessions. The dates and times are listed on each course registration page.
