EDU 930 Grant Writing
During this practical course participants will design a technology-related K-12 classroom project, identify an appropriate funder for the project, and construct a grant proposal designed to fund their idea. Emphasis will be placed on peer review as part of the writing process.
Typical school budgets rarely cover the supplies and equipment that teachers require, making it more imperative than ever to master the art of grant proposal writing. Classroom grants can be used to secure funds for conducting innovative class projects, purchasing supplies and equipment, and participating in professional development opportunities. This course is aimed to take the mystery out of the grant proposal writing process as participants learn how to address typical grant proposal components in their writing. This course is designed specifically for K-12 educators who are interested in obtaining classroom grants for the purpose of extending the learning of their students and themselves. The course has been designed such that by the end of the course, participants will have researched appropriate funders and applied the principles of technical writing to completion of a K-12 classroom grant proposal.
*Participants in this course will have a mandatory, synchronous, video conference session. Information regarding this can be found on each course registration page.
PLEASE NOTE: This course is offered only during the summer semester.
