Emergent Educational Technologies

EDU 928

Eduspire’s courses are offered by Wilson College as graduate-level courses, and most courses can also be taken as part of the Master of Educational Technology (MET) degree program.

Survey emerging technologies that will have applications in the classroom environment. Students will study educational technology integration and the “ed tech” business model and how implementing new technologies will impact the classroom.

[Formerly titled Exploring the New Frontier in Educational Technology.]

“Google Glass,” “Internet of Things,” “Learning Analytics,” “Augmented Reality,” “3D Printing.” Technology is changing the way we teach and the way students learn. However, it seems next to impossible to stay abreast of how quickly new devices and techniques become available to us. This course will help you understand the technologies currently used in classrooms as well as those that will become available in the near future. We will discuss which ones belong in the classroom and can contribute to our learning environments and which ones are simply fancy hype.
