Holocaust Education EDU 948 21st Century Holocaust Education

Eduspire’s courses are offered by Wilson College as individual 3-credit graduate-level courses, and most courses can also be taken as part of the Master of Educational Technology (MET) degree program.

This course demonstrates key topics and techniques needed for teaching the Holocaust in the 21st century. Course content will explore the challenges of instructing this subject during a time when first-hand accounts are limited. Students will focus on the effective use of primary sources available through free online content.

This course will give educators the basic skills required to teach the Holocaust in a historical perspective. It will give the basic background information and techniques on how to present the materials in your classroom. In addition, it will help Pennsylvania teachers meet the requirements of ACT 70, The Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights education law which went into effect in 2015.

The course will have two main parts. The first two weeks will be focused on materials and a general guideline for which information should be presented about the Holocaust. The last two weeks will show educators how to take the materials and present them in the most meaningful and effective way. The second half will also show how to properly use primary sources and which teaching strategies work best with Holocaust Education.

This course was previously titled "Teaching the Holocaust".

*This course will only count toward the MET program for Social Studies teachers.*
