Instructional Technology Specialist Practicum

Eduspire’s courses are offered by Wilson College as graduate-level courses, and most courses can also be taken as part of the Master of Educational Technology (MET) degree program.

The learner conducts learning technology-related activities with a self identified organization to apply concepts and skills previously explored during coursework. This experiential course also provides an opportunity to demonstrate and further develop core learning competencies, i.e. critical thinking, communication, teamwork and collaboration, information literacy, ethical decision making, and global engagement.

The ITS internship course is a capstone course, that has the ITS candidate conduct learning technology-related activities with a self identified organization to apply concepts and skills previously explored during coursework. This experiential course provides an opportunity to demonstrate and further develop core learning competencies, i.e. critical thinking, communication, teamwork and collaboration, information literacy, ethical decision making, and global engagement.

Through the internship, the student refines their understanding of the effective and meaningful use of technology in learning environments for both the K-12 learner and the adult learner. The internship provides students with the opportunity to develop expertise and to implement learning strategies through the use of technology. ITS candidates will demonstrate an understanding of fundamental and advanced concepts of instructional technology planning and applications at elementary, middle, and secondary levels (K-12).

Candidates are expected to meet all the PDE ITS guidelines through the internship experience, and demonstrate these competencies in an online portfolio. This includes work with the technology department on the infrastructure and budgeting processes, as well as leading professional learning opportunities for the effective and meaningful use of instructional technology that enhance administrative and teaching capabilities and improve student learning.

This course is the final requirement of the ITS program. All registrations require prior approval. Please email Alicen Hoy (alicenhoy@eduspire.org) to request this approval.
