EDU 943

Eduspire’s courses are offered by Wilson College as graduate-level courses, and most courses can also be taken as part of the Master of Educational Technology (MET) degree program.

This course facilitates a deeper understanding of PA's Common Core ELA standards. It presents effective teaching and learning strategies using non-fiction and content reading for grades K-6, as well as how to apply student work protocols, cross-curricular instruction, and targeted feedback to formatively assess and plan further instruction while leveraging the range of technology available to teachers.

[Formerly titled Reading Instruction (K-6): Non-Fiction and the Common Core]

This course will enable elementary educators to incorporate nonfiction instruction into their classrooms using authentic technology integration.

Gain a deeper understanding of the importance non-fiction reading has in all curricular areas. Incorporate effective teaching and learning strategies, learner work protocols, and formative assessment to design learning experiences that incorporate nonfiction reading throughout the school day.

Beyond this, develop and nurture a community of readers in your classroom and work to instill a love of reading in children.

Professionally, leverage technology to grow your PLN and connect with others about nonfiction reading.
