Creativity & Innovation EDU 905 Creativity & Innovation

Eduspire’s courses are offered by Wilson College as individual 3-credit graduate-level courses, and most courses can also be taken as part of the Master of Educational Technology (MET) degree program.

Explores the philosophy and current research analyzing human innovation and creative processes, especially in an educational setting. Focuses on the use of technology to develop innovative and creative practices and to promote innovation and creativity in concert with state and national standards in the classroom.

When educators address the integration of 21st century skills, they tend to avoid the skills of  "creativity" and "innovation." Why? Because many educators feel uneasy dealing with these attributes. How does an instructor grade creativity? How does innovation relate to state standards?

This online course will not only examine current research on innovation and creativity, but will also demonstrate how technology can be used in an interdisciplinary, multi-level approach.

Participants will investigate sources of human innovation and creativity and will discuss the relationships between innovation, creativity, traditional education, and standards. Participants will also learn the use of specific technology tools that ease the promotion of innovation and creativity in the classroom. They will develop lessons and activities using technologies that promote innovation and creativity.
